Having had time to reflect after attending InView Connect London, it’s safe to say, it wasn’t your average legal event.
Where else would you find lawyers meditating together, imagining themselves as combat helicopter pilots, shedding a tear over a speech on neurodiversity, and holding hands during singalongs?
It was inspiring, unexpected, and above all, honest. The big message? Being a lawyer today is about much more than just practising the law.
The human side of legal work
Across the day, we were reminded how important it is to:
- Pause and take a breath;
- Focus on what really matters instead of trying to do everything at once;
- Own our mistakes, learn from them, and move forward;
- Know our strengths and be honest about what we’re not so good at;
- Embrace change instead of resisting it;
- Work with others to get better results.
These aren’t just nice ideas. They’re essential lessons, especially for in-house legal teams.
You’re not supposed to do it all
In-house lawyers are often expected to be all things at once — legal expert, risk manager, business partner, firefighter. It’s a lot. And while many of us are great at lots of things, that doesn’t mean we should be doing everything ourselves.
The truth is, the best legal teams know when to bring in support. Whether it’s to ease the pressure during busy periods, get a second opinion, or cover off areas outside your usual expertise, teaming up with others isn’t a weakness. It’s a smart, strategic move.
Support that fits around you
At Hybrid Legal, we understand the pressures in-house teams face. Our flexible legal support model is built to slot in where you need us, no fuss, no long contracts, just experienced lawyers who can help you rise to whatever’s in front of you.
One key take away from InView Connect London is lawyers today are problem solvers and collaborators. Some might even say we’re all becoming hybrids and we couldn’t agree more.
So, if you’re juggling too many priorities or just need a bit of breathing space, we’re here. Because doing great legal work doesn’t have to mean doing it all alone.
