Steam-E was founded in 2011 and has been successfully selling their chewing gum removal steam machines to businesses and property owners all over the world ever since. Read what director Jared Brading said about working with Hybrid.

What was the main aim of Steam-E?

Myself and fellow director Martin worked in the cleaning industry previously but identified a niche in the market where there was scope for product innovation to improve the cleaning equipment supplied to companies providing the service. We developed the world’s first LPG/propane powered chewing gum removal machine called the Gumpak/Gumwand, which was the predecessor to our battery powered Steam-e machine, which we developed based on market feedback. We wanted to create a product that would make gum removal quicker and more efficient. As the Steam-e machine is battery powered, unlike most steam based cleaning products, it doesn’t require a power outlet nor awkward cables, which makes it hugely popular amongst our customers.

What were the challenges…faced initially?

We faced the same challenges faced by all new businesses. We had developed a great product for a niche market and knew it had huge potential for success as a piece of equipment in its field. We needed to establish a reputation that could only come from landing clients who realised its value and could spread the word, which would in turn allow our business to grow.

What prompted you to engage the services of Hybrid Legal?

I met Ryan at a networking event and initially engaged with Hybrid to register a number of trade marks to protect our product. Hybrid ran UK and EU wide clearance checks to determine if there was a good chance of successful registration and subsequently handled the registration of a series of trade marks for us.

How did Hybrid help?

Hybrid Legal have helped us extensively ever since that first piece of work in handling our trade mark registrations. We have used Hybrid to draft our company’s Shareholders’ Agreement and a Manufacturer’s Agreement as well as Intellectual Property Assignments and our Website’s Privacy and Cookie Policy.
